Finland's PCP takes home silver in the 2020 Procura Awards

The Procura+ Awards reward successful, already running, sustainable and innovative public procurements in Europe. These procurements lead to significant improvements of public goods, services, processes and infrastructure.

This year Finland participated in the completion with two cases in the same category of Outstanding Innovation Procurement in ICT. 

Sarastia was nominated for its artificial intelligence acquisition in connection with Sarastia's development project under the name OsretiAI, in which the aim is to improve  processing of purchase invoices in the municipal field with a machine-learning algorithm. About 13 million purchase invoices are processed in Finnish municipalities each year, and the solution allows purchase invoices to be routed and sent automatically, as well as forecasts for expected invoices.

Forum Virium's FABULOS (Future Automated Bus Urban Level Operation Systems) project focuses on how cities can use self-driving minibuses in a systematic way. The goal is to procure the operations of an automated bus line. This pre-commercial acquisition rose to silver and lagged behind Austria, whose project of intelligent and efficient building management took the category victory.

Finland has participated in various categories in the competition since their first year in 2017. At that time, Hyvinkää took the victory in the sustainable procurement category with its Swan-labeled kindergarten. Lahti was the runner up in the category of innovative acquisitions.
